The art of the all-in-one wedding: ceremony, reception & party in one venue

Planning a wedding often means juggling multiple venues, coordinating transport and hoping the timeline holds together. The ceremony happens in one place, everyone relocates for drinks, then moves again for dinner or dancing. By the time the evening arrives, you’ve spent more time managing logistics than enjoying the day.

There’s a simpler way. At 41 Portland Place, a Grade II* listed Georgian townhouse in Marylebone, couples can have exclusive use of the entire building from midday to late evening, allowing the celebration to unfold naturally in one place

Why a single venue makes everything easier

Choosing an all-in-one wedding venue removes a surprising amount of complexity. Guests arrive once and stay for the whole day. There’s no awkward gap between ceremony and reception, no risk of anyone getting lost between venues and no need to brief relatives on multiple London addresses.

For you as a couple, it means fewer moving parts. The flowers stay where they are. The photographer knows the spaces. Your timeline doesn’t need travel contingencies. At 41 Portland Place, exclusive venue hire runs from 12 noon to 11 pm, giving you a full day without watching the clock.

How the day unfolds at 41 Portland Place

A typical wedding day starts arou

nd midday. The Fellows Room serves as a private bridal suite throughout—a calm space for getting ready or taking a breath before everything begins.

The ceremony takes place in one of the elegant Georgian rooms, with capacity for up to 70 guests. Original period features and tall windows create a backdrop that feels grand without being overwhelming. After the ceremony, guests move into the Reception Room for drinks while you take photographs, either indoors or on the rooftop terrace.

Dinner follows in the Council Chambers, then as evening progresses, the Wolfson Suite becomes the space for dancing or late-night drinks. For larger evening receptions, the venue accommodates up to 150 guests standing.

Why Marylebone works for weddings

Location matters when you’re asking guests to travel from across London. Marylebone sits in that sweet spot: central enough to be convenient, calm enough to feel like a proper neighbourhood.

41 Portland Place is located just a short walk from Oxford Circus, Regent’s Park and Great Portland Street stations. For guests staying overnight, hotels are nearby in every direction.

What exclusive venue hire actually means

When you book 41 Portland Place, you’re not sharing the building with anyone else. It’s exclusively yours for the day. That includes access to the Fellows Room as a bridal suite, use of the rooftop terrace and flexibility around how you set up each room.

Catering is provided by Searcys, the UK’s oldest British caterer, established in 1847. Menus are tailored to your preferences, with options for every dietary requirement.

There are two main wedding packages: Portland Signature and Portland Elegance. Both include exclusive venue hire, a three-course menu, drinks throughout the day and all essentials like table linen and AV equipment. From there, you can add extras like upgraded drinks, late-night snacks or a dancefloor.
